General Manager Willem-Jan Balk has been involved since the beginning
For more than 20 years SKIDATA has had a branch in the Dutch city of Barendrecht near Rotterdam. Willem-Jan Balk began his career at SKIDATA as a project and sales manager and has been involved in this branch since its founding in 1993. For the past three years, he has been responsible for The Netherlands, Scandinavia, the UK and Ireland as General Manager and Area Manager for Northern Europe.
One thing that Willem-Jan finds especially exciting about working for SKIDATA in The Netherlands is the great openness to innovation you can find here. Early adopters particularly embrace internet-based solutions. The Dutch market is therefore very dynamic and highly competitive. So it is even more pleasing that, despite this competitiveness, SKIDATA has established itself as market leader for parking systems with a market share of more than 60%. As a result, the original team of five has become a remarkable team of approximately 55 employees.
In order to maintain high standards in the service area, service staff is distributed around the entire country and can quickly travel to our customers when needed. Plus, SKIDATA Support assists with questions and problems 24 hours a day.
Europe´s fourth-largest airport has relied on SKIDATA parking systems for years
Amsterdam´s Schiphol Airport has been a satisfied customer since 1993 and so the decision was again in SKIDATA´s favor when it came to renewing the parking system: in 2009 the Salzburg-based company delivered a new, innovative parking solution for the fourth-largest airport in Europe. A total of 40,000 parking spots are managed with the sophisticated system that sets new standards in customer service and other areas. Parking spot reservations, VIP parking and interfacing to customer loyalty systems are just some of the challenges that had to be addressed in the development of this large-scale project.
