New: Siemens Stiftung Newsletter with information about current projects

On July 12, 2012, the Siemens Stiftung will publish the first issue of its newsletter with information about the projects it is conducting in the areas of basic needs and social entrepreneurship, as well as education and culture in Latin America, Sub-Saharan Africa and Europe/Germany.

The first issue will cover many key topics, including the following:

– The Siemens Stiftung launched the „empowering people. Award“ at the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development in Rio de Janeiro as part of its international technologies for basic needs initiative. Technical products or solutions that help combat existential problems in basic supply can be submitted to the award jury until Monday, December 31, 2012. A grand total of EUR 200,000 in awards will be granted to those who submit the most promising concepts selected by the jury.
– Social entrepreneurs in the Community Impact Development Group (CIDG) will meet from September 17 to 19 in Frankfurt am Main (at the KfW Business Area Development Bank) to discuss how the social impact of innovative concepts and solutions can be leveraged to maximum effect in combating problems related to the supply of basic necessities like water, sanitation, energy, etc.
– The international theater academy Panorama Sur in Buenos Aires promotes contacts and dialogue among artists in Latin America and bolsters their presence in the international performing arts scene. This program, with a wide range of seminars, workshops and performances, will begin on July 16. The scope of the academy has been expanded this year thanks to an initiative for excellence launched by the Goethe-Institut.
