The Polish mobile market is closer and closer to the Western Europe

infographic, poland, germany

The average smartphone penetration in Europe is about 57 per cent. But the more to the East we look, the ratio is lower and lower. While in Germany it“s 51 per cent, in Poland – according to the newest research – it“s only 25 per cent. But still, in both Germany and Poland, there“s the same level of views of mobile websites and it“s about 10 per cent.

In the comScore reports such countries as Great Britain, Spain, France, Italy and Germany are called the Region EU5. Why? Because in these European countries the smartphone market share is the largest.
2 out 3 people in Spain have smartphones, while in Germany, the smartphones are chosen by 71 percent of total phone buyers. In Poland it“s slightly more than 50 per cent.
But there are some advantages though. If we look at the mobile operation systems market share, we can easily notice that Poles aren“t the very fans of Symbian (7 per cent of Poles have it in their Phones), while in Germany the ratio is twice as high (almost 15 per cent).
The Polish smartphone owners have mostly smartphones with Android (63 per cent, in Germany – 53,4 per cent) and with iOS (25,6 per cent, while in Germany – 21,8 per cent).
All that means that the Poles really get the main needs of mobile market in the Western Europe. The dynamic development of Polish mobile market enable us to draw a conclusion that in some aspects it“s catching up with the markets of Region EU5.
The Poles download lesser mobile apps because they are quite smaller nation (with the population of 38 milion vs 82 milion in Germany) and they make less money (with the average monthly wage about 850 EUR vs. 3500 EUR in Germany).
That means one more thing: the average cost of mobile app development in Poland is noticeably lower than in Germany.
„Here in Poland it“s about 8k EUR, while in Germany it“s really more expensive – about 23k EUR“ – says Piotr Krauschar, managing partner in mobile agency Mobberry .
„But on the other hand, this price difference has no impact on the usage of the newest technologies, such as Augmented Reality or on the process of designing our own solutions based for instance on RFID http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ooHgJ6ElfA4“ – says Krauschar.
