A ray of hope: Nanotechnology significantly improves the energy yield in solar modules

Something interesting for all who wish to invest in the future of solar technology: J.v.G. Thoma GmbH is presenting a new development that is aimed to enhance the performance of standard modules by more than 20%. This is made possible by combining nanotechnology and optics.

Freystadt/Oberpfalz – J.v.G. Thoma GmbH has invested three years of research work, now the new technology has reached its market maturity.

Just recently, J.v.G. presented a special high efficiency module which is resistant to extreme heat. The „desert module technology“ achieves a performance increase by 8 to 10 watts on each standard module through the so-called high power temperature process. The module is already in series production, after it was introduced in the market in December 2011.

Nonetheless, what the innovative developers are now presenting to the public is a genuine quantum jump: as a result of the new HPTP nanotechnology the performance goes up by more than 20%. Hans Thoma, the managing director of J.v.G. Thoma explains how it functions: „Till now solar modules were able to capture not necessarily all types of rays. But, the nanocoating we have applied is capable of bundling all impacting rays due to its very special properties. Thereby we capture the entire spectrum and utilize it for power generation.“ The whole thing is realized on a surface of 5 x 3 cm.

The prototype on 6-inch base will be completed by end of March. Initial discussions with investors are already going on, but the company is open for more interested parties. „We are keenly looking for partners who wish to shape the future together with us“, Hans Thoma explained.

J.v.G. Thoma GmbH has a track record of more than 20 years of experience in this field. As a leader in the industrial segment of construction of turnkey solar power generation units, the company has been operating internationally and takes care of customers in whole of Europe, America and Asia. The range of services covers consultation in the field of solar power generation, implementation of solar factories, including purchase and sale of solar components. In addition to this, J.v.G. is also a consultant for major industrial clients in Europe and Japan.
